Mission Statement

The mission of the Center is to improve the education of students through on-going preparation of teachers, staff and parents. Workshop participants will continue to explore research-based teaching methods and professional skills and knowledge based on the New York Learning Standards. Workshops, seminars, professional development projects, study groups and conferences are the methods used to deliver these services to our constituents.



The Policy Board of the Center consists of 17 appointed members in accordance with state guidelines. The Tonawanda/Grand Island Policy Board consists of the following representatives:


Ten public school teachers, five from each district

Two administrators, one from each district

One representative from non-public school

One representative from higher education

Two parents of public school district parents

One business representative

One retired teacher from either district

One Director, ex-officio-non-voting
